Even though birds are generally cute & they help us get rid of certain insects, their droppings & the stains they create are among the most annoying. Luckily, in this article, we’ll show you how to get rid of them quickly, in 5 easy steps! We’ll concentrate on pigeons since, on the one hand, they are among the most numerous, and on the other hand, their droppings are some of the most difficult to remove. However, you don’t need to worry, because the method we’ll present to you is easy to DIY (do it yourself), even if you don’t have any experience in this regard. Of course, if you need more extensive & thorough cleaning, you can always count on us at HBSOnTime.com!

Ingredients: vinegar, dishwashing liquid, water, a scrub pad, disinfectant;

Cleaning bird droppings – 5 easy steps

1. Prepare yourself. First of all, since bird droppings can be potential allergens, you shouldn’t forget to put on your face mask & protective gloves, in order to avoid any potential danger or allergic reactions. In other words, better safe than sorry;

2. Use a floor cleaner. In order to get rid of the bird dropping stains, you should use a solution of vinegar & dishwashing liquid. Mix 1 cup of vinegar with 1 cup of water, without forgetting to add 2 tablespoons of dishwashing liquid. Then, pour it on the stains, allow it to rest for 15 minutes, scrub with a brush & rinse with plain water. After you clean it up, it’s important to also disinfect the surface (the balcony floor, in our example), in order to maintain hygiene. Before using any substance, test it on a small & hidden area, to check the compatibility;

3. Wipe the floor. Next, you should wipe the balcony floor using a disposable microfibre cloth. If the stains are too stubborn, you should pour floor cleaner directly on the stain & wait 10-15 minutes before wiping it off;

4. Wash the floor. Next, you should wash the balcony floor with water, in order to make sure that you remove all the droppings, as well as the cleaning agent. This will also help you get rid of the unpleasant smell (which you can replace with air fresheners or by using the methods described in this article);

5. Throw away the cleaning cloth. Last but not least, you shouldn’t forget to dispose of the microfibre cloth, preferably in a separate dustbin, in order to avoid cross-contamination.
