How to avoid holes in the walls (or at least limit the damage)?

After buying, renting, building, or renovating a house, people will naturally want to “enrich” it, adding different objects in each of the rooms. After all these are furnished, there’s no room left, literally and figuratively, except vertically, more precisely on the walls. The list of items that can be hung is endless: paintings, photographs, lamps, decorations, TVs, etc. Of course, some of these can’t be properly placed without drilling holes in the walls, but, in general, the current trend is to “spare” them and look for alternative methods.

That’s precisely why, in this article, we will teach you how to hang different things on the walls, without drilling holes in them. After all, it’s a pity that not even a few days after the new paint has dried on them, you start “scratching” them, leaving deep marks and destroying them on a much larger scale than you anticipated. Instead, you could use two very elegant & efficient methods: adhesive strips and adhesive hooks. Of course, they aren’t suitable for all the objects listed previously, since some of them, for example, the TVs, are too heavy to “resist” in the walls without supporting screws. However, in most cases, they work:

Adhesive strips. Basically, this solution works the same way as double-sided tape. What you have to do is cut the strips to the size of the object you want to hang, then apply it to the wall. Once you decide exactly where you want to place them, simply peel off the protectors on both sides and stick them to the wall. The only problem is that they only work on flat surfaces, so, for example, you can’t use them on popcorn walls;

Adhesive hooks. Another option is represented by adhesive hooks: just decide where you want to hang something & fix the hooks to the wall – it’s so simple! Generally, hooks can hold more weight than strips, but they’re a bit clunkier and they don’t always look so elegant.

Last but not least, if none of the above options sound good to you, we’ll teach you how to make a hole in the wall without making a lot of “disaster” around. First of all, make two holes at the same height, using a bit proportional to the size of the object you want to hang. Then, place a wall anchor in each hole, and then, in each anchor, place a hook that works with the size of the screws for the object that you’re hanging. Of course, before starting, you should put a sheet on the floor, so as not to dirty it. Later, if you want to take that object off the wall, all you have to do to cover the hole is to use a special kind of caulk. Just fill the hole, sand the wall, then paint it, so as to mask the hole completely.
