What can be more annoying, during various day or night activities, than a squeaky bed frame? We thought so! This is why, for this article, we’ve decided to treat, literally and figuratively, exactly this topic. Therefore, we’ll teach you how to identify & solve the problem by yourself, in a maximum of 20-25 minutes, so that you can then enjoy a bed like new… silently. DIY fixing a squeaky bed frame – 7 steps, 20-25 minutes (an easy task)
Needed tools: WD-40 (or Q-tips & vegetable oil), a power screwdriver;
Step #1. Remove everything on the bed frame (sheets, pillows, blankets, quilts, other decorative objects, the mattress, and anything else that might be on the bed);
Step #2. Shake the bed frame thoroughly, on all sides, in order to clearly identify the source of the noise (the area where most of the noise is coming from);
Step #3. Identify the type of screws that are holding the bed frame together (so that you know what screwdriver head to use). Normally, the same type of screws should be used everywhere, but it’s possible to have two or more types (check carefully);
Step #4. Check if the components of the bed frame are correctly aligned with each other. Sometimes, those misalignments can represent the source of squeaks or other unpleasant sounds;
Step #5. After you correctly identified the source of the noise, tighten all the screws within that area firmly. If you want & don’t find it too difficult, you should also retighten all the other screws, to prevent the problem from appearing in another place, in a short time after the current intervention;
Step #6. Apply the WD-40 spray to all the intersections of the bed frame. Be careful while using it around children, pets, and your eyes, as this could lead to unwanted incidents;
Step #7 (only if you don’t have WD-40). If WD-40 isn’t available, you can instead use Q-tips dipped in vegetable oil (or any other type of oil). Oil up the intersections, then check if it still squeaks & put all the things back on the bed.
